Why this exists
Tutoring only works if it makes you a better clinician, not just a better test-taker. Everything below follows from one principle: a tutor helps you understand material; a tutor never produces work you turn in or gives you an advantage on an assessment.
This service is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any veterinary college. Your school's honor code always applies to you in full, and it takes precedence over anything in this document. Where your school's rules are stricter than ours, follow your school's rules.
What tutoring covers
Tutors are here to help you with:
- Explaining concepts, mechanisms, and relationships you're struggling with
- Working through practice problems, practice questions, and self-assessment material
- Reviewing material from lectures you have already attended or have access to
- Going over returned and graded work to understand what went wrong
- Study strategy — how to approach a dense course, what to prioritise, how to use spaced repetition
- Anatomy review using specimens, models, or atlases you are permitted to use
- Building your own study materials, so that you own the thinking behind them
What tutoring never covers
These are hard limits. A tutor who agrees to any of them is removed from the service.
Graded work
- No working on assignments, problem sets, take-home exams, quizzes, papers, or case write-ups that will be submitted for credit
- No writing, drafting, editing, or proofreading anything you submit under your own name
- No reviewing a draft of work that hasn't been graded yet
Assessments
- No help of any kind during an exam, quiz, or proctored assessment — in person, remote, open-book, or otherwise
- No reconstructing, sharing, or discussing the contents of a past or current exam
- No answering "what was on it?" — not even in general terms
- No sessions scheduled during an active exam window for that course
Materials
- No sharing lecture slides, recordings, question banks, lab guides, dissection guides, or any other material owned by a school or publisher
- Tutors use their own materials, openly licensed resources, or materials you already legitimately have
- No distributing session materials to anyone outside the session
Representation
- No attending a class, lab, or online session on your behalf
- No communicating with faculty or staff pretending to be you
The gray area, and how we handle it
Most honest confusion is about homework. You have a graded problem set due Friday and you don't understand it — that's exactly when you want a tutor, and it's exactly when the risk is highest.
The rule: tutors work a parallel problem, never your problem.
If you're stuck on assigned question 4, your tutor will build a similar question with different values or a different species and work through that with you. You then do question 4 yourself. You learn the method; you produce the answer. This is standard practice at university tutoring centres and it keeps everyone safe.
When in doubt, ask first — not after. Email admin@desmovet.com or ask your tutor to pause the session. A twenty-minute delay is nothing compared to an honor code hearing. Tutors are instructed that when they aren't sure, the answer is no.
What we don't promise
No tutor and no service can promise you a grade, a pass, or a class rank. Anyone who does is selling you something dishonest. What a good tutor offers is a faster path to understanding the material — the exam is still yours to write.
We also don't claim to know your curriculum.
The program has been restructured and no tutor has completed it in its new form. Tutors are contractually prohibited from implying otherwise or from speculating about what will be on an assessment. If a tutor tells you what's coming on a block exam, they are guessing — please report it to admin@desmovet.com. We help with the underlying material, which hasn't changed.
Confidentiality
Your tutor will not discuss your performance, your struggles, or the fact that you use this service with classmates, faculty, or administrators. Tutors sign a confidentiality obligation covering this.
Two limits on that promise: we may disclose information if required by law, and we will act on credible information about an integrity violation as described below.
If someone asks a tutor to cross the line
Tutors are required to decline on the spot and report it to admin@desmovet.com the same day.
What happens then:
- We contact you to understand what happened. Misunderstandings are common and are usually resolved here
- A genuine request to violate this policy ends your access to the service
- We do not report students to their school. We are not an arm of your institution and we don't act as one. We simply stop working with you
The one exception is if we are legally compelled to disclose something, or if we are ourselves the subject of an institutional inquiry — in which case we will be honest about our own records.
Tutors who agree to a violation are removed permanently and are not paid for the session in question.
Student acknowledgment
You confirm the following when you submit a tutoring request:
I have read the Academic Integrity Policy. I understand that tutors will not help with graded work, will not discuss exam content, and will not share school-owned materials. I understand that my own school's honor code applies to me in full and that following it is my responsibility. I understand that asking a tutor to violate this policy ends my access to the service.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new version number and effective date, and anyone with an active booking will be emailed.
